Pour la réalisation de mes nouveaux bijoux je teste différents matériaux.
For my new jewelry project I test different materials.
A la base je ne suis pas très FIMO et pâtes polymères qui je trouve ont un rendu un peu trop "plastique" à mon gout. Mais devant le prix de la pâte d'argent je me suis résignée à aller faire un tour chez Graphigro où j'ai acheté de la FIMO et de l'argile durcissant à l'air.
Il faut d'abord que je vous dise que je souhaite obtenir des éléments suffisamment solides, avec un poids suffisant pour un beau tombé (mais sans que ça vous arrache le lobe d'oreille) et avec un aspect quand même un peu classe.

Basically I'm not very FIMO or polymer clay. I found that they have something a little too "plastic" for me. But seeing the price of silver clay I resigned myself to go to Graphigro and buy some FIMO and a clay that hardens in the air.

I must first telle you that I want to get enough strong elements with a sufficient weight for a nice fall but without tearing you the ear lobe, and also a classy aspect.

So in this gray sunday in Lyon I tried to make beads.

J'ai choisi la FIMO Puppen à cause du rendu porcelaine promis sur l'emballage.

Pour la cuisson j'ai choisi la méthode à l'eau bouillante puisque n'ayant pas d'autre four que celui de ma gazinière. Je pense que c'est une bonne méthode mais je pense que je n'ai pas assez cuit la pâte qui s'est donc révélée cassante. Peut-être la repasser à la cuisson pour voir ce que ça donne.
Le rendu après cuisson n'est pas vraiment porcelaine je trouve mais bon je me suis dit peut-ête après un bon ponçage...
For the cooking I chose the boiling water method because I don't have any other oven than the one where I cook. I think it's a good method but I think I should have cook it much longer because my beads were breakable.
It doesn't really look like porcelain to me so I tried to sand them down to see what I get.
 
Donc j'ai limé, poncé mais je trouve que ça fait un peu trop "toc" pour ce que je veux faire.

At the end I think my beads look too cheap for what I want to do.

Conclusion, on peut faire de très belles choses avec de la FIMO. J'en ai pris plein les mirettes en faisant mes recherches mais ça ne correspond pas à ce que je cherche. Je pense que je vais la revendre puisque j'en ai très peu utilisé.

Conclusion: we can make such beautiful things with FIMO, I saw wonderful things doing my research but it doesn't match what I want. I think I'm going to sell my FIMO since I have a very little use of it.

Le matériau est bien plus simple à travailler. Mais c'est sûrement parce que je le connais déjà. ça m'a rappelé mes cours de modelage de quand j'étais étudiante. J'ai retrouvé le plaisir de travailler la terre.

The material is more simple for me to work. But it's probably because I already know it. It reminds me of my modeling courses when I was a student. I rediscovered th pleasure of working with clay.

Pour ce qui est de mes perles hier elles étaient encore en train de sécher mais comme elles commençaient à durcir j'ai pu les limer et poncer pour avoir déjà un rendu plus propre. Et ce matin qu'elles sont complètement sèches je les ai jeté par terre et contre le mur puis j'ai tenté de les casser avec mes doigts pour tester leur solidité. Résultat,elles ont résisté au sol (en lino) et au mur mais pas à mes mains. Pas concluant donc.
About my beads, yesterday they weren't dry enough but as they get harder I could sand them down to obtain a better look. this morning they were completely dry so I throw them on the wall and on the ground to test their strength. I also tried to break them with hands. They resisted to ground and wall but not to hands. Not good for what I want to do.

Prochains tests prévus: la porcelaine froide, le plexi, la résine, les pâtes de cuivre et de bronze.

Next tests planned: cold porcelain, plexi, resin and copper and bronze clay.
